Background

APEX is a community organisation, formed in Cornwall in September 2010, which aims to provide access to creative opportunities through the Arts for youth and adults with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.  Following two successful small independent singing  projects, funded by FEAST, the group was formed and The Voice Outside songwriting and recording project was realised. This intergenerational community project provided access to songwriting, recording and web promotional opportunities. Involving 8 participants each wrote and recorded their own song with Jacqui Callis, an independent  music facilitator/ songwriter, and they are now available on this website (listen below or follow menu links) and also The Voice Outside CD.  This innovative project aimed to raise the self-esteem of the members and  promote the unique creative talents of neurodivergent people within the community.
